A Tall Building for A New City, is a project in high tech advanced Tall Building Studio with the collaboration of SOM (Skidmore Owings and Merrill ), the influential global firm that is expert on the topic. A team of seven reviewers with a wide range of expertise including Mark Sarkisian, Chief Structural Engineer contribute to our studio and provide feedback and support us during critiques and throughout the process.

Designed by Narges Alizadeh and Aayushi Kapadia, the  project consist of A Master Plan for the New City.and a A single, very tall building (>1300 ft).

A holistic design approach where diverse biology (different species, vegetation, human water, soil, air, light source) come together to form a city. Therefore, an approach in making a BiodiverCITY. Planning consideration in the design of the Alameda City:

-In the City Center, a primary “Green Spine” is proposed which further bisects into secondary green arteries.
-To offer ‘Sequence of views’ and  ‘Sequence of experience’ on the meandering paths.
-There are two driving forces in the city, one force branching to the wetlands and other into the signature building.
-To offer green spaces in each of the neighborhoods to encourage human-nature interaction, thereby creating breathing spaces within each zones.
-To orient buildings North-South to reduce cooling loads and consider natural ventilation as a strategy to reduce the use of air conditioning in summer.
-To consider natural ventilation within the city
