Shams Ol-Emareh in Golestan Palace was once the tallest building in Tehran. It was the “Sun of Royal Mansions“, which was the first symbol of Tehran as the capital of the country. This magnificent building with a height of about 35 meters, has two towers on the left and right sides of the building are tall enough to give a pleasant view of the surroundings.Though the whole structure was inspired by European architecture, it has still preserved Persian architecture elements.

‘Sun Palace’ Project has tried to find the Urban Symbolic Building for today's Tehran city.  150 years since the first skyscraper was built in capital city, today Tehran is full of tall buildings and skyscrapers. living in a tight cubic residential buildings, one can barely see the sky and feel the light that pass through the openings. Today's ‘Sun Palace’, is an open to the sky architecture on a monumental scale,  which allows the light to shine  through special geometry overhead. Inspired by ‘Muqarnas’ ceiling in traditional bazaar
